The people who still have a copy of a one thousand dollar bill are wondering about the significance of the bill that they have. Most especially if the date printed on the bill tells something about its value.

The truth about these dates is that they do not only tell the age of a specific batch of dollar bills; these dates also tell how many changes have occurred within the Department of Treasury. This is so because the dates posted in the bill change every time the Secretary of the Treasury Department also changes.

A person considered as the Secretary of Treasury is very important in managing the bills that are being allowed to circulate in a country’s economy. Different denominations of the specified currency has different life spans, but it is certain that when the image of the President displayed in the front is already damaged and battered, it can already be concluded that they will not be stored in the Federal Reserve Bank. When the bills distributed in different banks are not consumed entirely, these commercial banks are required to store them back into the Federal Reserve Bank to be counted and stored. In the same way, the bills that are torn will automatically be replaced that will be taken care of by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

In short, the date that is printed in the bill itself does not necessarily say much about the age of the bill because there are still other elements that should be considered.
